Leadbeter, Culver Announce Grant Funding to Local Technical School
HARRISBURG – Rep. Robert Leadbeter (R-Columbia) and Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-Columbia/Luzerne/Montour/Northumberland/Snyder) announced local funding to Columbia County through this year’s Career and Technical Education Grants Program.
“I’m happy to see these dollars make their way back to Columbia County,” said Leadbeter. “These resources are valuable as they provide a solid foundation for young people who are entering adulthood and seeking family-sustaining jobs. This will be another factor contributing to our conservative values of hard work and determination, which benefits the local businesses that drive our community.”
Columbia-Montour AVTS will receive $80,000 in funding to expand and improve access to first-class equipment and educational advantages for their students.
“These dollars are an investment in Columbia-Montour Area Vocational Technical School, and the students are preparing to become productive citizens in our local economy,” said Culver. “The hands-on skills and training provided by career and technical centers help students prepare to enter the workforce and obtain good-paying jobs. Graduates from these programs are able to fill in-demand jobs and earn family sustaining wages.”
Across Pennsylvania, there are more than 80 Career and Technical Schools which offer a combination of classes and hands-on learning programs approved by the Department of Education.
