Leadbeter, Culver Announce Substantial Grant Awards for Columbia County

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Robert Leadbeter (R-109) and state Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver (R-27) today announced more than $1.29 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grant funding is on its way to Columbia County to assist with 13 projects aimed at boosting local infrastructure, public safety and community resources.
“When I make a commitment, I deliver,” said Leadbeter. “These dollars being brought back to Columbia County are the result of persistent work and conservative common sense to return taxpayer money home and invest it where it makes a real difference for families and communities.”
“These investments will help communities address real needs while easing the financial burden on local taxpayers,” Culver said. “From public safety equipment and wastewater improvements to childcare, historic preservation, and community facilities, this funding supports projects that improve quality of life across our region.”
The allocations are as follows:
• Bloomsburg Town Borough: $200,000 to assist with the Bloomsburg Area YMCA child care expansion project.
• Orange Township: $200,000 to assist with the Mount Pleasant Wastewater Treatment Plant project.
• Fishing Creek Township: $180,000 to help with the purchase of a mower.
• Catawissa Borough: $116,672 to assist with police vehicle purchases and equipment.
• Columbia County: $100,000 to assist with building safety improvements for the Columbia County Historical and Genealogical Society.
• Columbia County Redevelopment Authority: $100,000 to assist with updates at For the Cause Teen Center at Coblentz Corner in Berwick.
• Berwick Borough: $85,000 to assist with swale restoration at Test Track Park.
• Scott Township: $66,057 to assist with the purchase of a new dump truck.
• Catawissa Borough Municipal Authority: $64,405 to assist with the purchase of a pickup truck.
• Columbia County Redevelopment Authority: $62,500 to assist with water plant improvements in Orangeville Borough.
• Columbia County Redevelopment Authority: $62,225 to assist with shelter rehabilitation for Beyond Violence Inc. in Berwick.
• Briar Creek Township: $30,000 to assist with the purchase of a new police vehicle.
• Catawissa Borough: $25,218 to assist with borough technology upgrades.
The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
